This is a series of classes that takes place over 6 weeks and begins with a discussion of what Yoga is about. This will answer any questions you may have before actually participating in a practice. There are 5 introductory classes that cover a rage of different styles so you know what to expected and what to look for when looking for a class at any studio. The series will then conclude with a basic Yoga philosophy discussion.
This series begins at a slow pace, which is why it's great for those who maybe have tried Yoga in the past but want to start at a slower pace to help you build your foundation, root into your stability and find your way to mental clarity. If you're newer to Yoga (or a beginner) or it's been a while since you've practiced, this is a great way to ease back in!
Restorative Yoga is a great way to be introduced to Yoga. It's less about strengthening and more about getting your body and mind into a relaxed and restful state. Each posture is held for around 5-7 minutes and props such as pillows, bolsters, blankets, and yoga blocks are used to support the body while easing into a more relaxed state of being. This practice has a bigger focus on the meditative aspect of Yoga.
** Each in-person class provides Yoga blocks, blankets and bolsters for students to use. All props are properly sanitized after each use**
Yin Yoga is also a slow paced form of Yoga but this incorporates principles of traditional Chinese Medicine. The focus is on the stretch, relaxing into the stretch while supporting the body. This practice is also great for athletes to compliment their workout routine.
** Each in-person class provides Yoga blocks, blankets and bolsters for students to use. All props are properly sanitized after each use**
All of our Hatha style sequences focus on building strengh and using muscles that you probably don't use in a normal day. The benefits are building energy in the body and to subtly increase your flexibility in small and slow steps of progression. Each posture is held for 2-5 breaths and each student is encouraged to know your limits and listen to your own body and make it as challenging or gentle as you are feeling in the moment. If any asana (pose) does not feel right you are encouraged to skip it or find a modification that fits you.
Flow classes are more movement based going from pose to pose and require a bit of shoulder strength such as Plank and Downward Dog. Saturday mornings 'Wake up Yoga' we practice a slow flow class. Bridge2Yoga Slow Flow is only slightly more fast paced than Hatha, but not as fast paced as Vinyasa flow.
Chair Yoga classes focus on both upper and lower body joint movements while remaining seated in a chair. The postures are flow based and coordinate movement with breath. If you have an interest in starting with Chair Yoga classes, please contact us to learn more.
